The Signal Mountain Lady Eagles started their season this past weekend at the Hixson Middle School Play Day. Many of the Region’s top softball programs were in attendance. The Lady Eagles began the day against Soddy Daisy Middle School. The ladies showed great determination and played the Trojans close for most of the game, even leading the game for a period of time. It was a good showing for our team versus one of the best programs in town. Although the Eagles did not pull out the victory, many lessons were learned and the girls settled in to the beginning of the season. The second game pitted the ladies against the East Ridge Pioneers. Following a down pour and sauna like conditions, the Eagles took control of the game early and continued to play strong to bring home the first victory of the season 6-2. The Eagles showed VERY strong pitching under Erica O’Kane. Our hitting and fielding came alive throughout the day, and the result of the weekend show promised the Lady Eagle team excitement in the season ahead. Good Job Lady Eagles!
